About

Birch Point is a fictional town located on the shores of Birch Lake, a very real place in the Arrowhead region of northeastern Minnesota.

Birch Lake is twenty-one miles long and located north of the town of Babbitt and southeast of the town of Ely. It lies in the Superior National Forest, an area only lightly touched by man. An abundance of wildlife lives amongst pristine lakes and rivers in the dense woodland. The “North Woods,” as it’s often christened, is a place of peace where the beauty of God’s handiwork surrounds you.

We grew up spending our summers at our family cabins in the area, along with our middle sister, little brother, and a host of Finnish relatives. It was our happy place when we were children and remains so to this day. So it was natural that we would choose this setting when we started writing our fiction series.

The Renovation of Birch Point is about a small town struggling to survive. The story begins with a contest created by the town council to restore new life into their dwindling community. In book one, Everything Comes to Light, we meet the first newcomers to Birch Point. An unintentional bookstore lady and a disenchanted young doctor work to develop their own successful businesses, and the heart of the town slowly begins to beat again. Look for more adventures (and misadventures) as new books are added to the series.

Our desire is to create “feel good” stories that address real issues in a positive, uplifting way and bring joy to our readers. We hope you will come away blessed whenever you visit Birch Point.

Meet the Authors:

Liz Collard is a writer and avid reader who loves to do both at the beach–or at the lake. A longtime resident of Orlando, Florida, Liz and her husband recently relocated to a small town outside of the metro area. She enjoys gardening, baking sourdough bread, and spending time with her family.

Wendi Agness lives in Minnesota where she writes and cares for her grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes include gardening, hiking, kayaking, and reading. There is nowhere she would rather be than exploring the beauty of nature, and she heads “up north” with her family as often as possible.
